Jason Herd

Jason HerdJason, Manchester born and bread comes from being dragged up on a diet of Hacienda and Northern Soul setting his roots firmly into electronic dance music and after leaving the Hacienda one night and heading to an afterparty he spun his first pieces of vinyl (badly) and slammed it out on the 1210s which created his obsession with House Music.

Like many of the Producers and Djs Jason works alongside, he has developed his sound from soulful vocal grooves to slammin big room house which can veer towards minimal, Techno and Electro depending on the gig, "its all house music to me, if its rockin, I'll play it", which is one of the reasons there is always one of Britain's best house music clubs wanting him as resident, the list include Gods Kitchen, Gatecrasher, Pacha and more recently he has been made resident at the infamous Sankeys in his home town of Manchester, playing alongside Djs such as Axwell, Steve Angello, Erick Morillo, D.Ramirez, Mark Knight and many more.

Production wise, Jason has just moved his studio to the Sankey's building and has got a whole new bag of music for 2007. The past five years has seen Jason have numerous singles out on Subliminal under the name J:Sonic including the club smashes "Release The Presssure" and "Whatever You Dream" and has worked with vocalists such as Barbara Tucker, Lisa Millet, Angie Brown and Abigail Bailey.

Having worldwide club success alongside Jon Fitz with the Subliminal Smash "I Just Can't Get Enough" in 2005 Jason found himself playing lots of Subliminal Sessions parties including Pacha Ibiza, Space Miami, Air Birmingham amongst many others which has led his sound to develop again catering for the big room.

Jason doesn't like to catagorise house music because then he gets categorised; he may play a few different tunes from each genre which together make one uplifting house set, and so his new productions follow suit.

Forthcoming productions will be released on Toolroom Records, without a doubt one of house music's coolest record labels joining producers such as Mark Knight, D.Ramirez, Dave Spoon and Richard Dinsdale. He has put his very successful label JFunk on hold for the time being as he concentrates on production.

As a remixer Jason has remixed for Toolroom, Ministry, Azuli, East West, Sony, Pete Tong, Subliminal plus many more and is now high in demand with 2007 already seeming to be his busiest year so far, so expect lots of uplifting dirty house beats from this man.

Jason has played in almost every corner of the globe with Subliminal and tours Australia annually with One Love, he's played almost every major house club in Europe including all the major venues in Ibiza - with legendary sets at Pacha and Space for which he still get accolades in the music press, if you've ever seen Jason DJ you'll know why, nothing but extreme musical energy, passion and lots of hands in the air with the dirtiest beats in town, that's why this year you'll see him playing for Toolroom, Ministry, The Cross, Pacha and Sankeys in 2007.

Last year Jason became the representative DJ for Dolce and Gabanna, Djing at their 20th anniversary with Donner Summer, closing the Cannes film festival as well as providing music for their fashion shows and afterparties. He also mixed The Subliminal Sunsets Album in 2006 with great success which took him back a couple of years to his more vocal productions. But this year expect nothing but pure energy!!
